Guyana steady after hiccup

St Philip, Barbados, CMC – Guyana snatched first innings points and were batting themselves into a strong position against Leeward Islands, at stumps on the penultimate day of the opening round of the WICB Under-19 three-day Championship on Sunday.

Enjoying a lead of 71 runs on first innings after dismissing the Leewards for 131, Guyana were 114 for six – an overall advantage of 185 runs at the St. Catherine Sports Club.

Barbados hit back after Robinson's cameo

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Windward Islands captain Jerlani Robinson sparkled with a boundary-studded half century but Barbados held the upper hand at the end of the first day of the opening round of the WICB Regional Under-19 Championship on Saturday.

The powerfully-built Robinson, batting at Number 3, clobbered 75 off 110 balls with nine fours and a six to be the mainstay of the Windwards’ first innings 206 all out after they opted to bat first at Queen’s Park.

Hemraj opens with ton for Guyana

St Philip, Barbados, CMC – Guyana’s Chanderpaul Hemraj christened the WICB Regional Under-19 Championship with a splendid century – the first for the tournament – but was forced to share honours with Tristan Hanley who bagged an impressive six-wicket haul on Saturday.

Electing to bat at the St. Catherine Sports Club, in the eastern parish of St. Philip, Guyana were dismissed for a modest 202 in 73.3 overs on the opening day.

Openers guide T&T after Ali bags four

Bridgetown, Barbados, CMC – Trinidad and Tobago had the better of the exchanges against defending champions Jamaica and were eyeing first innings lead, on the opening day of their first round game in the WICB Regional Under-19 Championship on Saturday.

Playing at the Yorkshire Sports Club, they dismissed Jamaica for 187 and at the close, were replying strongly on 55 without loss.
