Guyana spinners stun Windwards

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Guyana’s spinners triggered a late order Windward Islands batting collapse to force a 53-run victory on the final day of their fourth round match in the WICB Regional Under-19 three-day Championship on Sunday.

Set a target of 197 for victory, the Windwards collapsed from a comfortable position of 131 for four to 143 all out, losing their last six wickets for 12 runs in quick time at Queen’s Park.

Hope hits third ton for Barbados

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Shai Hope made his third century of the tournament as Barbados batted their way to first innings points on the final day of their top-of-the-table fourth round clash in the WICB Regional Under-19 Championship on Sunday.

Hope, Barbados’ captain, who had previously taken hundreds off both the Windward and Leeward Islands remained unbeaten on 104 as the Barbadians finally overcame Trinidad and Tobago’s challenging 337 for eight declared, finishing on 339 for six declared at Kensington Oval.

Bridgetown, Barbados — Guyana pulled off a superb come-from-behind victory by 53 runs over Windward Islands as the fourth round of matches in the West Indies Cricket Board’s Under-19 three-day tournament came to a thrilling climax on Sunday.

Under-19s start World Cup with smart win

Brisbane, Australia - The West Indies kicked off their campaign with a successful run-chase against India, beating the two-time former champion by four wickets. India was restricted to 166 for eight by a tight West Indies bowling unit as the two-time former champion was unable to strike up any significant partnerships.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Smit Patel top scored for the side, hitting a patient 51 (99 balls, 5x4) before being bowled by paceman Ronsford Beaton who finished as the most successful West Indies bowler with figures of 10-1-33-3.
