Gabriel's power keeps Windwards on top

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – An aggressive, undefeated half-century from Tarryk Gabriel put the Windward Islands in sight of first innings points over Guyana on the opening day of their fourth round WICB Regional Under-19 Championship clash on Friday.

Gabriel stroked 71 to fire his side to 127 for three at the close, in reply to Guyana’s paltry first innings total of 147 all out at Queen’s Park.

The Windwards lost the early wicket of Gordon Pope without a run on the board, and the vital wicket of Jerlani Robinson for seven, to stumble to 14 for two.

T&T bat deep to keep Bajans at bay

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Right-handed batsman Ewart Nicholson stroked a masterful, maiden hundred as Trinidad & Tobago occupied the crease for the entire first day against hosts Barbados on Friday.

Sent in at the historic Kensington Oval, T&T finished on 273 for five with Nicholson unbeaten on 104, in their three-day Regional Under-19 contest.

Gayle-force as Jamaica hammer Leewards

Bridgetown, Barbados, CMC – Middle order batsman Bryan Gayle stroked a sparkling maiden unbeaten century while Kerry Holness narrowly missed out on another, as Jamaica put Leeward Islands’ bowling to the sword on the opening day of their fourth round match in the WICB Under-19 Championship on Friday.

The defending champions amassed a mammoth 324 for five with Gayle hammering 112, Holness getting 97, and Aldaine Thomas weighing in with an unbeaten half-century down the order.

Adams cracks maiden ton for Guyana

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – All-rounder Ricardo Adams slammed a hard-hitting, maiden century for Guyana but could not prevent Trinidad and Tobago from landing first innings honours in their drawn game of the WICB Regional Under-19 three-day Championship on Wednesday.

The Guyanese, 180 for four overnight and still behind Trinidad & Tobago’s first innings total of 375 for seven declared by 195 runs, were dismissed for 245 in the morning session.
