Solozano half-century hands T&T win

FRIENDSHIP, Barbados – Opener Jeremy Solozano struck another solid half-century as Trinidad and Tobago capitalised on Jamaica’s bold declaration to win their first round clash in the Regional Under-19 three-day Championship by three wickets on Monday.

Spinners lead Guyana to victory in U 19

BAYFIELD, Barbados - Spinners Shawn Pereira and Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai shared all ten-wickets as Guyana crushed Leeward Islands by 96 runs, two minutes after the scheduled tea interval, to kick start their campaign in the opening round of the WICB regional under-19 championship.

T&T lead thanks to Solozano's 84

Bridgetown, Barbados, CMC – A solid responsible half-century from opener Jeremy Solozano enabled Trinidad and Tobago to take a narrow first innings lead over defending champions Jamaica in their opening round match of the Regional Under-19 three-day Championship on Sunday.

Resuming the day on 55 without loss, T&T were dismissed for 203 with Solozano hitting a top score of 84. Off-spinner Oshane Walters was the pick of the Jamaica bowlers, taking five for 49 while Brian Gayle picked up four for 29 to provide admirable support.

Hope ton drives Bajans to lead

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Jul 29, CMC – Barbados captain Shai Hope stroked a masterful 101 to earn the hosts first innings points over Windward Islands as bad weather marred the second day of the WICB Regional Under-19 three-day first round match on Sunday.

Hope, who was unbeaten 44 at the close of the first day, was made to endure a nervous wait in the 90s before attaining the coveted landmark after more than four hours occupation of the crease during which he stroked nine boundaries off the 203 balls faced.

Guyana steady after hiccup

St Philip, Barbados, CMC – Guyana snatched first innings points and were batting themselves into a strong position against Leeward Islands, at stumps on the penultimate day of the opening round of the WICB Under-19 three-day Championship on Sunday.

Enjoying a lead of 71 runs on first innings after dismissing the Leewards for 131, Guyana were 114 for six – an overall advantage of 185 runs at the St. Catherine Sports Club.
