Permaul, Thomas bat Windies out a hole

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Captain Veerasammy Permaul and wicket-keeper Devon Thomas both struck cavalier half-centuries as they combined to pull West Indies A out of dire straits with a superb eighth-wicket stand on the opening day of the first Digicel four-day match against India A on Saturday.

 

Fearless Permaul topscores for Windies A

Bridgetown, Barbados – West Indies A team captain Veersammy Permaul said he was fearless when he went to the crease on Saturday and backed himself to do the job against India A at Kensington Oval. The small, slim right-hander made a career-best 66 as the home side posted 252 all out on the opening day of the first Digicel four-day match.

Windies have "Spring" in their step

Bridgetown, Barbados – West Indies A Team start their Digicel Series against India A today with the buzz words of “pride, performance and progress” as a guide. Head Coach Hendy Springer outlined the team’s goals after another intense three-hour training session at Kensington Oval on Friday.

The first Digicel four-day ‘Test’ starts on Saturday. First ball is 10 am (9 am Jamaica Time).

PREVIEW:Windies trio aim to bring A game

Bridgetown, Barbados, CMC – West Indies A will face India A in the opening four-day Digicel “Test” starting here Saturday, with three players looking to hoping to impress selectors with the hope of gaining a recall to the senior team.

Openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Lendl Simmons, along with leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo are all expected to line up against the touring Indians at Kensington Oval, in the side led by Veerasammy Permaul.

India A banking on strong batting

Bridgetown, Barbados – India A have done their homework and will look to hit the ground running when they face West Indies A in the opening Digicel four-day Test match on Saturday.

The visitors got a taste of condition at Kensington Oval on Thursday and Friday afternoon, and appear all set for the opening day on Saturday. First ball is 10 am (9 am Jamaica Time).
