Barath hits 113 before rains ends 1st ODI

Colombo, Sri Lanka – Adrian Barath made his maiden One-Day century as the West Indies made 245-5 off their 50 overs, batting first in the 1st ERI One-Day International against Sri Lanka on Monday.

After the Windies batted there was a heavy downpour and washed out the rest of the match before the Sri Lankans could start their reply.

Windies win toss, bat in 1st ODI

Colombo, Sri Lanka – West Indies captain Darren Sammy won the toss and decided to bat in the 1st ERI One-Day International against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club on Monday.

The Windies will be without allrounder Dwayne Bravo, who has a slight right knee niggle. It is a precaution and he will be treated on a daily basis and is expected to be fit for the 2nd ODI on Thursday.

Windies aim for winning start

Colombo, Sri Lanka – The West Indies will open their three-match One-Day International Series against Sri Lanka on Monday at the Sinhalese Sports Club. The series will form the main preparation for both teams ahead of the International Cricket Council’s Cricket World Cup 2011.

After Sunday’s training session, Windies skipper Darren Sammy outlined the side’s plans for the series-opener as well as the entire series. He noted that the aim was to get off to a winning start and set the tone for the three-match rubber.

Sarwan looking forward to SL series & World Cup

 

Colombo, Sri Lanka– Ramnaresh Sarwan is happy to be back in West Indies colours and is eagerly looking forward to the three One Day Internationals against Sri Lanka. The 30-year-old said he is focussed on helping the team in the upcoming series and also to play his part in the International Cricket Council’s Cricket World Cup.

Sammy: World Cup starts now!

Colombo, Sri Lanka – The West Indies players arrived in Sri Lanka on Friday and are focussed on winning the upcoming three-match One-Day Series.

According to skipper Darren Sammy, the aim is to get into a “winning mindset” and use the matches as preparation for the International Cricket Council’s Cricket World Cup.
