Simmons hits 51 as Windies reach 220

Gros Islet, St Lucia – West Indies were bowled out for 220 off the last ball of their 50 overs in the 2nd Digicel One-Day International at Beausejour on Monday.

Sent in to bat after losing the toss, the Windies again failed to dominate the Pakistani spinners and fell for a moderate total.

Lendl Simmons topscored with a stroke-filled 51off 48 balls with four boundaries and two massive sixes. Marlon Samuels reached 29 from 74 balls, while tailender Kemar Roach hit a six and two fours in a career-best 24 at the bottom of the innings.

Tons for Brathwaite and Alleyne as Windies U19s dominate

Dubai, United Arab Emirates ¬– Captain Kraigg Brathwaite and Anthony Alleyne both made superb centuries as West Indies Under-19s made 426-8 declared against Australia Under-19s on the second day of their three-day Test match on Monday.

The pair came together at 44-2 and added 183 for the third wicket as the Windies dominated the second day’s play, in reply to Australia’s first innings of 350 at the Global Cricket Academy. The Aussies will resume their second innings on 54-0 on Tuesday.

Martin makes debut,WI bat first

Gros Islet,  St Lucia – Leg-spinner Anthony Martin made his international debut for West Indies on Monday in the Digicel 2nd One-Dayer against Pakistan at the Beausejour Cricket Ground.

The 27-year-old Policeman from Antigua came in for fast bowling allrounder Andre Russell, who is being rested for the match.

Pakistan, who lead the series 1-0 following an eight-wicket win in the first ODI on Saturday, have remained unchanged.


Windies look to bounce back on Monday

Gros Islet, St Lucia – West Indies will come face-to-face with Pakistan again in the 2nd Digicel One-Day International on Monday at the Beausejour Cricket Ground.

The Windies trail 0-1, following an eight-wicket defeat in the first ODI on Saturday at the same ground, where steady spin bowling tied them down to a total of 221-6 from their 50 overs.

Brathwaite, Alleyne steady Windies U19s

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, CMC – West Indies Under-19s were trying to recover from a wobbly start, after Kurtis Patterson hit a hundred to give Australia Under-19s early control in their three-day “Test” on Sunday.

Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite was not out on 28, and compatriot Anthony Alleyne was not out on 23, as the Windies reached 81-2, replying to Australia’s first innings total of 350, on the opening day of their match at the Global Cricket Academy.
