PREVIEW: WI aim to avoid 3-0 sweep

Mumbai, India -- West will be going all out to avoid a series whitewash when they face India in the third and final Test match on Tuesday. First ball in the match at the famous Wankhede Stadium is 9.30 am (11 pm Monday Eastern Caribbean Time/10 pm Jamaica Time).

The Windies lost the opening match at Ferozeshah Kotla in Delhi by five wickets after taking a sizeable first innings and went under by an innings and 15 runs in the second match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata despite making 463 after being asked to follow-on.

WI women's player gets doping ban

Dubai, United Arab Emirates -- West Indies women’s international cricketer Tremayne Smartt has today been found guilty of committing an anti-doping rule violation under Article 2.1 of the ICC Anti-Doping Code (the “ICC Code”) and has been suspended from all cricket and cricket-related activities for a period of five months.

Smartt, 26, provided a urine sample as part of the ICC’s random in-competition testing programme after the conclusion of a Twenty20 International between West Indies and Pakistan, held in Georgetown, Guyana on 11 September 2011.

Brathwaite to officiate in Bangladesh

St John’s, Antigua – Barbadian umpire Gregory Brathwaite has travelled to Bangladesh and will officiate in three matches in that country’s domestic four day season.

Brathwaite who stood in matches in the English county last season is the latest beneficiary of the Umpire Exchange Programme among the West Indies Cricket Board, the English and Wales Cricket Board and the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
