Windies feeling the "love" in Dhaka

Dhaka, Bangladesh – West Indies captain Darren Sammy said Tuesday his side held no ill will towards the Bangladeshi people.

The Windies returned to the city this week for the first time since irate fans threw stones at their team bus after they crushed Bangladesh by nine wickets here on March 4.

Windies at full strength for quarter-final

Dhaka, Bangladesh – The West Indies will have all 15 players available for selection when they face Pakistan in the all-important ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 quarter-final on Wednesday.

Fast bowler Kemar Roach and powerful opener Chris Gayle missed the last match against India but both players participated in Tuesday’s training session at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur.

Doctrove to stand in CWC quarter-final

Mumbai, India – Dominican umpire Billy Doctrove will officiate in the final quarter-final at the World Cup between co-hosts Sri Lanka and England on Saturday.

The International Cricket Council, the sport’s World governing body, released the umpire appointments for the quarter-finals on Monday, with Doctrove to stand alongside Australian Simon Taufel at the Premadasa Stadium here. Doctrove is the only umpire from the Caribbean on the elite panel of the ICC and has been officiating throughout the tournament.

Ramdin's ton brings final day to life

Kingston, Jamaica – Denesh Ramdin struck an unbeaten century but Trinidad and Tobago were forced to abort a brave run chase and settle for a draw against Jamaica in their sixth round match of the WICB First-Class Championship on Monday.

The right-handed Ramdin finished on 103 as T&T, set 304 to win, reached 248-5 at the close on the final day of the contest at Sabina Park. Jason Mohammed chipped in with more than run-a-ball 56 in an 84-run fourth wicket stand with Ramdin, that put the Trinidadians within sight of victory.
