Bishoo leads Windies in downing Pakistan

Gros Islet, St. Lucia – Devendra Bishoo bowled memorably on his debut to follow-up a purposeful 65 from Lendl Simmons, and propel West Indies to seven-run victory in their first-ever Twenty20 International against Pakistan on Thursday.

Gros Islet, St Lucia – Opening batsman Lendl Simmons marked his return to international cricket with a brilliant 65 off just 44 balls to pilot the West Indies to 150-7 off 20 overs in the Digicel T20 International at Beausejour Cricket Ground on Thursday afternoon.

Young Windies win Series against Aussies

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – West Indies Under-19s recorded a superb victory by 18 runs over Australia Under-19s on Thursday to win the three-match limited-overs series.

The Windies made 229-8 in their 50 overs and bowled out the Aussies for 211 in 48.3 overs to win the third and final match at the Global Cricket Academy. After losing the first match, the West Indies rebounded to win the second match by 102 runs and took the series in style on Thursday.

Windies win toss and bat

Gros Islet, St Lucia – Darren Sammy won the toss and opted to bat first in the first ever International Digicel Twenty20 match between West Indies and Pakistan.

Leg spinner Devendra Bishoo, batsman Danza Hyatt, spinner Ashley Nurse and all rounders Andre Russell and Christopher Barnwell are all on debut in a new look Windies team.

Windies left Kemar Roach and Krishmar Santokie on the bench.

Sir Garry remembers Gerry Alexander

Bridgetown, Barbados – West Indies cricket legend Sir Garfield Sobers has spoken about what a “wonderful man” Gerry Alexander was and what a thrill it was to play alongside him in the West Indies cricket team.

Alexander, the former West Indies wicket-keeper, captain and team manager, died in his native Jamaica last weekend. He was 82.
