Phillips: We can create history

Bridgetown, Barbados – Combined Campuses & Colleges will be looking to create regional cricket history when they face Jamaica in the final of the WICB First-class Tournament, starting Friday.

First ball at the 3Ws Oval is 10 am (9 am Jamaica Time).

Speaking ahead of the match, CCC skipper Omar Phillips said his players were full of confidence and looking to win the coveted Headley/Weekes Trophy. This is just the third season of first-class cricket for the students and they are going after their first title.

Lambert: We want four in a row

Bridgetown, Barbados - Jamaica captain Tamar Lambert says achieving a fourth straight regional four-day title will be a special motivation for his side when they face Combined Campuses & Colleges in the WICB First Class Championship final starting Friday.

First ball at the 3Ws Oval is 10 am (9 am Jamaica Time).

The Jamaicans, under the unassuming Lambert have dominated the regional tournament in recent years and are on the verge of collecting their fifth title in the last seven years.

Players speak of benefits of Sagicor HPC

Bridgetown, Barbados – Members of the Sagicor West Indies High Performance Centre are among the top performers for their team in this year’s WICB Regional 4 Day Tournament.

The players all said they were generally satisfied with their performances in the tournament and indicated the work done on and off the field in the first year at the Sagicor HPC helped immensely.

Pakistan squad for limited-overs matches

Karachi, Pakistan – Pakistan have left out senior players Kamran Akmal and Abdul Razzaq for the Digicel T20 International and five-match Digicel One-Day Series in the West Indies, which starts later this month in St Lucia.

The team was announced on Wednesday just one week after the World Cup semi-final loss to India in Mohali. Captai Shahid Afridi and chief selector Mohsin Khan had indicated that they were looking at rebuilding a fresh side for limited overs cricket.
