Danza Hyatt comes in for Darren Bravo

Bridgetown, Barbados — The West Indies Cricket Board’s Selection Panel has called up Danza Hyatt to replace Darren Bravo in the West Indies 13-man squad for the second Digicel T20 International against Australia on Friday at Kensington Oval.

Bravo, the 23-year-old left-hander has been released from the squad. He will play for Trinidad & Tobago against Barbados this weekend in the Regional 4-Day semi-finals with the aim of being ready for the Digicel Test Series against Australia.

Not enough runs, says Bravo

Gros Islet, St Lucia — Kieron Pollard again showcased his amazing power-hitting ability with a record half-century but his heroic batting act was not enough as West Indies went under to Australia by eight wickets in the opening match of the Digicel T20 Series.

The powerful six-footer blasted an unbeaten 54 off just 26 balls, with five massive sixes as the West Indies reached 150-7 off their 20 overs. Pollard’s effort was the fastest ever half-century (off 20 balls) by a West Indian in T20s and thrilled the near capacity crowd at the Beausejour Cricket Ground.

Russell to miss T20I Series

GROS-ISLET, St. Lucia — West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell was ruled out of the Digicel Twenty20 International Series against Australia due to injury.

The 23-year-old Russell has been diagnosed with a minor, right lateral hamstring strain.

WI outgunned by Watson, Hussey


GROS-ISLET, St. Lucia – A typically robust, unbeaten half-century from Kieron Pollard was upstaged by an equally enterprising 69 from opener Shane Watson and 59 not out from Mike Hussey that guided Australia to a convincing, eight-wicket victory over West Indies in the first Digicel Twenty20 International on Tuesday.
