Pollard sees 119 as step forward

Chennai, India -- West Indies power-hitter Kieron Pollard says the superb breakthrough century he made on Sunday was a huge stepping stone in his international career. The powerful six-footer made 119 off 110 balls with 10 massive sixes, his first ton for the Windies in his 51st One-Day International.

During the innings Pollard reached 1,000 career runs but his prowess was not enough as the West Indies fell short 34 runs short of India’s target of 268 in the fifth and final match of the ODI Series. India won 4-1.

Pollard smashes 119, but WI fall

Chennai, India -- Kieron Pollard blasted 10 sixes but his power-packed maiden century was not enough for the West Indies to avert a 34-run defeat against India in the fifth and final One-Day International on Sunday.

Pollard’s boundary-studded 119 came off 110 balls and took his team close to the 268-run victory target but apart from Andre Russell (53) on a slow, low track at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. West Indies ended for 233 in 44.1 overs.

Ramdin calls for final push

Chennai, India — Denesh Ramdin, the West Indies wicket-keeper, is looking to make the most of his promotion in the batting order. The 26-year-old was moved up to Number 5 and this led to some good performances on his return to the international stage.

In the last match against India at Indore he responded with a brilliant run-a-ball 96, the highest score of his 88-match career and the highest ever score by a Windies keeper in ODIs. During that innings he completed 1,000 runs in ODI cricket.
