Windies fielding in 2nd Test

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – Australia won the toss and chose to bat against West Indies on the opening day of the second Digicel Test on Sunday at the Queen’s Park Oval.

Both sides have made two changes.

Undaunted WI seek series levelling win

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – West Indies captain Darren Sammy was confident his side would vigourously pursue a series-levelling victory over Australia in the second Digicel Test, which opens on Sunday at the Queen’s Park Oval here.

Shiv makes move up rankings

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad — Windies veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul has moved up to fifth on the batting list of the International Cricket Council Test player lists after his unbeaten 103 in the first innings in Barbados.

Chanderpaul, who won the prestigious ICC Player-of-the-Year award back in 2008, made his 25th Test century and jumped three places in the rankings. The 37-year-old was removed for just 12 in the second innings but Australia coach Mickey Arthur fully expects Chanderpaul to provide more headaches for his team in the second Digicel Test in Trinidad

Arthur: Sammy, Gibson doing well

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados — Cricket fans in Australia are surely as happy as those in the Caribbean that the once-great West Indies appear to be on the path back to the top. Only England and Australia can claim to have contributed more to cricket's history than the West Indies and the competition with Australia is a rivalry surpassed only by the Ashes.

Bravo planning a special something

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad — Expect “something special” from Darren Bravo during the upcoming second Digicel Test, starting on Sunday at the historic Queen’s Park Oval.

The gifted left-hander was confident and in a positive frame of mind, as he prepared to play his first Test on home soil.
