Sri Lanka make two changes for 2nd Test at Premadasa

Colombo, Sri Lanka – Sri Lanka have made two changes to the squad to face the West Indies in the 2nd ERI Test match at the Premadasa Stadium in the capital city of Colombo, on Tuesday. Following the draw in the 1st Test at Galle International Stadium, the home side have dropped fast bowlers Dammika Prasad and Thilan Thushara.

Shillingford reported for suspected illegal bowling action

Galle, Sri Lanka – The West Indies off-spinner Shane Shillingford has been reported with a suspected illegal bowling action during the first cricket Test against Sri Lanka which ended in Galle on Friday.

The 27-year-old from Dominica, who had figures of 33.2-3-123-4 and 30-4-79-1, was reported after the end of the Test by on-field umpires Steve Davis of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and Richard Kettleborough of the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires, along with TV umpire Asad Rauf, also from the elite panel, and fourth umpire Tyron Wijewardene.

Kingstown, St Vincent – Kraigg Brathwaite hit his maiden first-class century on Friday as the West Indies A team took full control against Pakistan A in the 1st Digicel four-day "Test" match at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex. The 17-year-old opener ended the second day on 117 not out as the Windies closed on 216-1.

Galle, Sri Lanka – Chris Gayle has rocketed into the top 10 of the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen for the first time in his career after stroking a magnificent 333 against Sri Lanka in the Galle Test which ended in a draw on Friday. The West Indies opener's second career triple century, which came off 437 balls and included 34 fours and nine sixes, lifted the 31-year-old from 21st position to 10th spot in the latest rankings which were released on Friday.

Galle, Sri Lanka – West Indies captain Darren Sammy has given his team top marks for the performance in the 1st ERI Test match against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium. The Windies played well throughout the five days and according to Sammy they left the southern coastal town “feeling good about how we played and what we achieved as a team”.

The Windies batted first and made 580-9 declared. Sri Lanka made 378 in the first innings. Forced to follow-on, they reached 241-4 when rain brought the match to an early end on Friday.
