Galle, Sri Lanka – West Indies continued to have the upperhand against Sri Lanka on the fourth morning of the 1st ERI Test match at the Galle International Stadium, in this southern coastal town. Some disciplined bowling and superb fielding saw the Windies take three wickets in the extended session as the home side went to the break on 264-6. They are replying to 580-9 declared, of which Chris Gayle made a monumental 333.

London, England - The England and Wales Cricket Board today announced that the 2010 Friends Provident t20 champions, Hampshire Royals, and runners up Somerset have accepted an invitation from the West Indies Cricket Board to take part in the Caribbean T20 from 10-23 January 2011.

Galle, Sri Lanka – West Indies bowlers stuck to their guns and made inroads against Sri Lanka as the third day of the 1st ERI Test match was hit by heavy rain. Only 30.5 overs were possible Wednesday. The players left the field for bad light just after lunch and then showers came to bring an end to the day.

In the time played Sri Lanka moved from 54-1 to 165-3 as the Windies bowlers took two vital wickets. Sri Lanka need to reach 381 to avoid the follow-on after the Windies made 580-9 declared, with a record-breaking topscore of 333 coming from Chris Gayle.

Galle, Sri Lanka - Sri Lanka’s reply to West Indies’ mammoth 580 for 9 declared was halted by rain shortly after lunch on day three of the opening Test at the Galle National Stadium. Starting the day on 54 for 1, Sri Lanka lost opener Tharanga Paranavitana for 10 and captain Kumar Sangakkara for 73 in reaching 165 for 3 before the rain curtailed play.

Mahela Jayawardene is not out on 51 and Thilan Samaraweera is on 11. Jayawardene has faced 91 balls and struck five boundaries as he and Sangakkara added 71 for the third wicket.

Galle, Sri Lanka - West Indies bowlers put in a spirited bowling performance on the third morning to grab two wickets as Sri Lanka reached 148-3 at lunch at the Galle International Stadium.

Starting the day on 54-1 in reply to West Indies mammoth 580-9 declared, the hosts lost skipper Kumara Sangakkara and Tharanga Paranavitana – both bowled through the gate. Fast bowler Kemar Roach and seamer Dwayne Bravo took the wickets.
