Sammy laments Windies shortcomings

CANBERRA, Australia - Captain Darren Sammy has lamented the failure of the West Indies to exploit potential match winning moments in their current One Day International series against Australia.

Sammy was reacting after Australia took a winning 3-0 lead in the five-match series on Wednesday, following their 39-run win at Manuka Oval.

Faulkner fined for yelling obscenity

CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA - James Faulkner has been fined for yelling an obscenity at Chris Gayle after bowling the West Indian in the third ODI in Canberra.

Faulkner struck two key blows to halt the West Indies' bid to reel in the home side's 7-329 at Manuka Oval yesterday.

Stage set for Regional Super 50 start

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – A new format will herald the start of the West Indies Cricket Board’s regional season which bowls off across the region on Thursday.

In a departure from what has obtained in recent years, the season will now combine the Regional Four-Day Championship and the Super50 tournament, which will see 48 matches being played in a three-month campaign.

Teams will battle for the Clive Lloyd Trophy in the limited overs format and chase the Headley/Weekes Trophy in the longer version.

Gayle to have scan on injury

CANBERRA, Australia, CMC –A scan is to be carried out on West Indies opening batsman Chris Gayle on Thursday to determine the extent of an injury sustained during the third One-Day international against Australia Wednesday.

Gayle suffered a side strain while fielding during Australia's innings of 329 for seven in 50 overs at Manuka Oval.

He bowled five overs and picked up a wicket while conceding 36 runs but spent some time of the field and had to bat at number five, instead of opening the batting.
