Kantasingh sends Windwards crashing

Cave Hill, Barbados – Kavesh Kantasingh wrecked the Windward Islands batting on Saturday to propel Combined Campuses & Colleges one step closer to the final of the WICB First-Class Championship.

The left-arm spinner snatched 5-38 as the Windwards, chasing CCC’s 256, were shot out for a paltry 173, handing the hosts a lead of 83. At the close of the second day of the semi-final clash at 3Ws Oval, CCC had moved to 85-3, an overall lead of 168 runs with seven wickets in tact.

Dhoni's magic wins World Cup for India

Mumbai, India – Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni struck a dramatic six to bring the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 to India on Saturday after Sri Lanka had threatened to ruin their party.

Dhoni finished with 91 not out as India, chasing a target of 275, won by six wickets with 10 balls to spare at the Wankhede Stadium to win the 10th edition of the sport’s biggest event. They are also only the third side to win batting second, a feat that seemed beyond them when Lasith Malinga dismissed both openers in his first four overs.

LUNCH: Nash moves to 146 not out for JA

St Augustine, Trinidad – Brendan Nash made a superb century as Jamaica control to take control over Trinidad & Tobago at lunch on the second day of their WICB First-class semi-final on Saturday.

The left-handed Nash started the day on 96 and went on to score his eighth first class century as he continued to put the T&T bowlers to the sword. He went to the break on 146 not out and with his Wavell Hinds on 10. Jamaica reached 334-4 and will look to build a massive first innings score at the Sir Frank Worrell Ground at the UWI campus.
