New boys ready to rep for Windies

Bridgetown, Barbados – The four newcomers in the West Indies team are all eager and excited to “represent” the people of the region against Pakistan.

The four – Danza Hyatt, Krishmar Santokie, Ashley Nurse and Christopher Barnwell – were last week named in the 13-man squad to face Pakistan in the Digicel T20 International in St Lucia on April 21.

Kingston, Jamaica, CMC – Jamaica’s Sports Minister Olivia Grange has hailed the leadership of captain Tamar Lambert in Jamaica’s capture of their fourth straight WICB First-Class Championship.

Lambert led Jamaica to the historic four-peat on Saturday when they crushed Combined Campuses & Colleges by eight wickets inside two days of the four-day final at 3Ws Oval.

“What can we say about Tamar’s captaincy, except that the man knows the game and knows how to motivate his team,” Grange said.

Pakistan replace pacer Cheema

Lahore, Pakistan – Pakistan fast bowler Aizaz Cheema has been ruled out of this month’s West Indies tour due to fitness problems.

Cheema, who is yet to play at the international level, was declared unfit for cricket activities by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s medical staff was replaced in the 16-man squad by Sadaf Hussain.

Left-arm pacer Sadaf, 21, was the top wicket-taker in the recently concluded domestic season with 64 wickets and has taken 90 wickets in just 18 first class games.

Superb Jamaicans take WICB Four-day trophy, make it fourth title in a row

Cave Hill, Barbados, CMC – Jamaica crushed Combined Campuses & Colleges by eight wickets inside two days on Saturday to clinch their fourth straight WICB First-Class Championship.

Set a mere 10 to win, Jamaica reached 15-2 to complete an uncomplicated victory with two full days to spare in the final at the 3Ws Oval and confirm themselves as the undisputed kings of four-day cricket. The only other team in history to win four consecutive titles in regional first-class cricket was Barbados when they won the Shell Shield from 1977 to 1980.
