WICB thanks Dr Hilaire for service

St John’s, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board at a meeting of the Board of Directors at the weekend formally thanked the departing Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ernest Hilaire for his service to West Indies cricket.

Dr. Hilaire, after serving the full term of his thee year contract, is preparing to demit office at the end of September.

Lara remembers devoted father

Colombo, Sri Lanka – West Indies legend Brian Lara was inducted into the International Cricket Council’s Hall of Fame at the ICC Awards ceremony on Saturday night. The superb left-hander from Trinidad who set several records in his illustrious cricket career was warmly applauded and showered with praise as he became the 17th West Indian to be inducted.

Narine all smiles with Award

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka – For the second year in a row, a West Indian spin bowler has won the International Cricket Council’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year award. Sunil Narine, the off-spinner who has made a huge impression since joining the Windies set-up last December, won the prize on Saturday night at the ICC Awards gala at the Water’s Edge Resort.

Narine seals Emerging Player award

Colombo, Sri Lanka - Up-and-coming West Indies bowler Sunil Narine has been named as the Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2012 at the LG ICC Awards in Colombo.

The 24-year-old from Trinidad, follows in the footsteps of last year’s winner and fellow West Indies bowler, Devendra Bishoo, in claiming the award. The off-spinner played in three Tests for the West Indies claiming 12 wickets at an average 31.50, while in the 15 ODIs he played in he claimed 28 wickets at an average of 18.82.

Narine wants to win ICC Award

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, CMC – West Indies spin bowler Sunil Narine says he believes he has done enough to win the International Cricket Council’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year award which will be announced at the annual International Cricket Council’s Awards gala at the Water’s Edge at 4:30 pm (7 am Eastern Caribbean Time/6 am Jamaica Time).

Narine is on a short list that also includes New Zealand fast bowler Doug Bracewell, Sri Lankan top-order batsman Dinesh Chandimal, and James Pattinson, the Australian pacer.
