Amazing Rampaul sets batting record

Visakhapatnam, India -- West Indies left-hander Ravi Rampaul on Friday created a new world record for the highest score by a Number 10 batsman in history of One-Day Internationals.

The 27-year-old struck a magnificent unbeaten 86 against India in the second One-Day International as West Indies recovered from 170-9 to reach 269-9 off their 50 overs at the Dr YS Rajashekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium.

Visakhapatnam, India -- The West Indies have managed to push India to the wall on a several occasions in the Test series, and in the first One-Day International at Cuttack a couple of days ago, dismissing half the hosts’ batting line-up for just 59.

However, in each instance, they let India off the hook, only to rue the lost chance.

Visakhapatnam, India -- West Indies skipper Darren Sammy has said his team needs to find a way to beat India, after playing brilliantly in patches only to give it all up when it mattered.

“Yeah, we keep getting close but we need to find a way to win. We took India all the way down to the wire defending a small total at Cuttack.

“The guys have taken a lot of confidence from that performance. We had our moments and now we just need to put our head down and focus on the basics,” Sammy said ahead of the second ODI, to be played here on Friday.

Cuttack, India -- West Indies pacer Kemar Roach rued not having enough runs on the board in Tuesday’s thrilling One-Day International at the Barbati Stadium in Cuttack.

India were stretched to the penultimate over while chasing the 212-run target set by the visitors. After Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 72, Varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav ensured they sealed the win with seven balls to spare.

Sammy: We will never say die

Cuttack, India -- Victory slipped out of their hands but West Indies skipper Darren Sammy lauded his boys for their never-say-die spirit with which they pushed world champions India in the first One-Day International on Tuesday.

In a thrilling low-scoring match India prevailed by one wicket with seven balls to spare while chasing 212 to win.
