WICB, BCA tribute to Nigel Harrison

Bridgetown, Barbados – The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) have paid tribute to Nigel Harrison, the outstanding first-class umpire who died recently in Barbados. He was 77.

Harrison was a very good club cricket for the famous Spartan Cricket Club, where he played alongside former West Indies players Wes Hall, David Holford, Cammie Smith, Tony Howard and Peter Lashley.

CCC turn to youth for CT20

Bridgetown, Barbados -- Three promising, young players are set to make their Caribbean Twenty20 debuts for the Combined Campuses & Colleges when the tournament is contested next month.

Jamaicans Jason Dawes and Akeem Dewar, two former West Indies Under-19 players, as well as Barbadian all-rounder Kyle Mayers, a current West Indies Under-19 player, have been named in the 14-member squad that will take part in the tournament to be staged in Antigua and Barbados from January 9.

Bajans win Marshall Memorial trophy

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – A century from Nicholas Kirton set Barbados Under-13s up for an innings and 24 runs victory over Trinidad & Tobago Under-13s in the Malcolm Marshall Memorial Classic.

Kirton wrote his name in the record books with a circumspect 108 that helped Barbados reach 259 to gain a 140-run, first innings lead in the three-day match contested at the famous Empire Club nestled in the heart of the Barbados capital.

Umpire Harrison dies at age 77

Bridgetown, Barbados -- Former Barbadian first-class umpire Nigel Harrison has died after a brief illness at the age of 77.

Harrison stood in several matches in the 1980s in the Shell Shield and Red Stripe Cup championships, as well as regional one-day matches. He was also a former president and treasurer of the Barbados Cricket Umpires Association (BCUA).

Ramdin eager to take over T&T

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad CMC – Denesh Ramdin said he was looking forward to leading reigning champions Trinidad & Tobago in the Caribbean Twenty20 Championship next month.

The West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman was elevated to the position, after long-standing captain Daren Ganga resigned last month.

Ramdin said he was confident about taking over the leadership of the side and it would involve a lot of work and effort.
