Bridgetown, Barbados - Jomel Warrican and his Combermere Old Scholars team are on a roll in the sixth annual Christ Church Foundation School Joel Garner Twenty20 tapeball tournament.

Not only did captain Warrican capture his third consecutive Baron's Smokehouse $100 Player-of-the-Match award with yet another telling all-round performance but Combemere Old Scholars also recorded their third win to ensure the top place with nine points in the Lee Harford Skeete/Lewiston Wellington Zone 'A' following a crushing 103-run win against Princess Margaret Old Scholars at Briar Hall on Monday night.

Warrican, who bats right-handed, topscored with 33 off 31 balls including two sixes and two fours in a total of 137 for nine off 20 overs after winning the toss.

He then returned to snatch three wickets without conceding a run off 1.1 overs with his left-arm spin as Princess Margaret were dismissed for 34 in 8.1 overs to end the tournament without a point. Seven batsmen failed to score.

The 21-year-old Warrican has played two first-class matches for Barbados - both in 2012 - but informed sources have said he is now strongly tipped to represent Combined Campuses & Colleges (CCC) in the 2014 regional first-class championship which starts February 28 after recent outstanding performances in the CCC trials.

Combermere Old Scholars will know the other team in their Zone to join them in the quarter-finals when Alleyne Alumni, the 2011 and 2013 runners-up, clash with Alexandra Old Scholars - both on three points - in the first match of a double-header at Dover on Friday, February 21 at 6.30 p.m.

The next match in the tournament, however, is on Wednesday, February 19. It brings together Louis Lynch Old Scholars and Foundation School in the Lewin/Gilpin Jones Brothers Zone 'B' at Dover at 7 p.m.
