Viv to team up with Warne in Big Bash
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - West Indies legend Viv Richards is set to team up with Shane Warne in the Australian Big Bash League.
The Antiguan master, 60, has been approached by spin king Warne to coach the batsmen at Melbourne Stars — the Twenty20 team he captains.
Richards, who scored 8,450 Test runs in a glittering career from 1974 to 1991, was telephoned personally by Warne to see if he was interested in schooling a batting line-up that features England’s Luke Wright.
The retired star — one of the most destructive batsmen of all time — will be in Australia commentating on a five-match one-day tour by West Indies in February but could now fly Down Under for the start of the Big Bash League this December.
Richards has given Warne a verbal agreement with the Melbourne franchise and his representatives are now currently thrashing out a deal.
