Barbados Cricket Association article.

Bridgetown, Barbados - Defending champions Sagicor Life UWI advanced to the semi-finals of the 2013 BCA Sagicor General Twenty20 championship after rain forced a no-decision in the first quarter-final match against Super Centre Spartan at Kensington Oval today.

Spartan were 74 for two off 11 overs after winning the toss when rain stopped play for the second time, leading to the abandonment.

The not out batsmen were Akeem Springer on 36 and Marrodon Bend, six.

Rashidi Boucher was caught by wicket-keeper Kyle Corbin off fast bowler Kesrick Williams for 28 (54-1; 7.4 overs) and Shane Browne was caught at point by Nekoli Parris off pacer Carlos Brathwaite for one (60-2; 9.1 overs).

Rain first stopped play after four overs with the score 26 without loss. It held up play for roughly two hours, forcing the match to be reduced to a 14-over-a-side but another shower at 4.51 p.m. resulted in the abandonment at 5.35 p.m.

UWI booked their place in the last four by way of placing higher in the preliminaries.

There was more steady rain after 6 o' clock which seemed likely to delay the scheduled 7 p.m. start of the second quarter-final between Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) and CGI Maple.
