U-13 cricket reaches quarter-final stage

Bridgetown, Barbados - Nicholls Baking Combermere is through to the quarter-finals of the Barbados Cricket Association Republic Bank Right Start Under-13 Cricket Competition after completing a 126-run victory over St. George Secondary on Wednesday.
Combermere batted first and made 174-3 in 31 overs with Kaston Stoute ending unbeaten on 61.
Seth Agard made 48 and Zidan Clarke 22. St. George was then routed for just 48 in 19 overs with Nicholas Austin doing most of the damage with five wickets for 13 runs. Indal Persad took 4-3.
Joining Combermere in the quarter-finals, which will bowl off today, are Queen’s College, Alexandra School, Deighton Griffith Secondary, Lodge School, St. Leonard’s Boys’, Ellerslie and Harrison College.
Alexandra School ensured its winning streak remained intact heading into the quarter-finals with a narrow one-run win over Alleyne School.
Alexandra batted first and was bowled out for just 76 in 26 overs with Shaquan Glasgow taking 4-19, while Rikkem Headley was the only batsman into double figures with 20.
Three wickets from Headley and two each from Jayden Broome and Deshawn Toppin helped to restrict Alleyne to 75 all out in 23.4 overs.
Deighton Griffith booked its spot in the quarter-finals with a 3-run win over Princess Margaret.
This was a do-or-die game for both teams as they were tied on eight points in Zone ‘B’ heading into the match. Deighton Griffith batted first and scored 78-7 and they turned around to restrict Princess Margaret to 75 all out.
Milo Lodge defeated Christ Church Foundation by 13 runs. Lodge scored 130-4 in 30 overs with Shemwyn Harris scoring 70 and Jonathan Dowrich 21. Harris took 3-28 as Foundation fell for 117 all out in 27.1 overs.
Dowrich took 2-18 and Jonathan Griffith 2-17.
