T&T outshine All Stars by 27 runs
Cave Hill, Barbados -- Trinidad and Tobago beat the CO Williams All Stars XI by 27 runs to make a winning start to the UWI Cave Hill Campus T20 Cricket Festival on Tuesday night.
T&T batted first and made 121-7 off 20 overs. They then bowled out the combined team for 94 to win with four balls to spare at the 3Ws Oval.
Adrian Barath topscored for T&T with 41 off 34 balls with two sixes at the top of the order. Shane Ramsey got two wickets with his skiddy off-spin, while Christopher Jordan, the Surrey fast bowler, was good conceding just 12 runs from his four overs.
When T&T bowled, the best bowler was leggie Samuel Badree who took two for eight off his four overs, while pacer Shannon Gabriel also got two wickets at the start of the innings.
After the match T&T skipper Denesh Ramdin said the match was a good warm-up as they try to get all systems in place ahead of next week’s start to the West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 in Antigua.
“We felt we were about 15 runs short when we batted,” Ramdin said. “It got a little close at the end...with them needing a run a ball, but we were superior and we won it easy in the end.”
T&T will play their second match against Barbados on Wednesday at the same venue at 8 pm.
