T&T, Guyana, Jamaica win in RU15
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana and hosts Jamaica posted wins in the opening round of matches of the Regional Under-15 Tournament on Tuesday here.
T&T beat Windward Islands by six wickets at Kensington Park, Jamaica defeated Barbados by three wickets at Up Park Camp, and Guyana romped to a 113-run victory over Leeward Islands at Melbourne.
At Melbourne: All but six of Joshua Persuad’s 58 from 50 balls were in boundaries and Kevin Sinclair was unbeaten on 50 from 60 balls including seven fours, lifting Guyana to 216 for with Marcus Duberry picking up 3-29 from 10 overs and Zawandi White 2-31 for his 10 overs.
White returned to hit a top score of 38 for the Leewards, but they were restricted to 148 for seven in 39 overs.
Jermuel Cabey got 34 and Sagar Hetheramani was the most successful bowler for the Guyanese with 3-40 from seven overs.
At Up Park Camp: Half-centuries from Raewin Senior and Dominic Samuels steered the Jamaicans to victory over Barbados.
Senior led the chase with a well-played 69 from 91 balls that included eight fours and two sixes, and Samuels supported with 54 from 114 balls that included half-dozen fours.
Nico Reifer took 2-20 from seven overs and Nyeem Young 2-45 from 7.2 overs for Barbados.
Joshua Corbin had led the way for the Barbadians with 43, Jadan Jones made 33 and Kilano Brathwaite was not out on 26, as the visitors posted a competitive 219 for eight from their 50 overs.
Senior started a personally rewarding day with 3-38 from his 10 overs and Duke Reid captured 2-37 from 10 overs.
At Kensington Park: Te-Shawn Alleyne, Nathniel Mc David, Avinash Mahabirsingh and Kirstan Kallicharan grabbed two wickets apiece to contain Windward Islands to 130 for nine in their allocation of 50 overs.
Johnnel Eugene was the brightest spark in the Windwards batting with a top score of five fours and one six in 57 from 118 balls.
T&T coasted to victory at 134 for four, inspired by a knock of 44 from Cephas Cooper and 27 from Navin Bedaisee.

At Up Park Camp: Jamaica beat Barbados by three wickets. BARBADOS 219 for eight off 50 overs (Joshua Corbin 43, Jadan Jones 33, Kilano Brathwaite 26 not out; Raewin Senior 3-38, Duke Reid 2-37). JAMAICA 220 for seven off 47.2 overs (Raewin Senior 69, Kevin O’ Brien 54, Andre McCarthy 34, Bryan Brown 26 not out; Nico Reifer 2-20, Nyeem Young 2-45).
At Melbourne: Guyana beat Leeward Islands by 113 runs. GUYANA 261 for eight off 50 overs (Joshua Persaud 58, Kevin Sinclair 50 not out, Christopher Campbell 29; Marcus Duberry 3-29, Zawandi White 2-31). LEEWARD ISLANDS 148 for seven off 39 overs (Zawandi White 38, Jermuel Cabey 30; Sagar Hetheramani 3-40, Kevin Sinclair 2-10, Collin Barlow 2-20).
