TTCB investing in youth programmes

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – The Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) has ploughed close to TT$250,000 (US$40,584) into each of its seven zones during the last three years to assist with its youth developmental programmes.

This was revealed by the board’s General Secretary and CEO Forbes Persaud at the official launch on Wednesday of the High Performance Centres (HPC) programme.

The estimated cost of the HPC over the six-week period will be in the vicinity of TT$500,000 (US$81,169).

TT U-17s beat Barbados' Lodge School for Sir Garry title

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Trinidad and Tobago Under-17s successfully defended their Digicel Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools title on Tuesday, with a 21-run victory over the Lodge School.
 
Chasing a victory target of 169 runs from 37 overs, Lodge School were undermined by the probing leg-spin of 14-year-old Kissoondath Magram and were restricted to 147 for nine at the famous Kensington Oval.
 
Magram sent down eight overs for a miserly 17 runs and captured three wickets.
 

Powell giving back to cricket in adopted homeland

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – In an effort to give back to the game that has given him so much, former West Indies batsman Ricardo Powell will host a cricket camp though his company Basia Sports Foundation.

The camp is be held from July 22 to August 14 at the Queen’s Park Oval in the Trinidad & Tobago capital, and it is designed for boys from ages four to 10 years old.

Powell will be the head coach and will be assisted by several coaches picked by him.
