Port of Spain, Trinidad - Vishnu Boys Hindu College started their quest for the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League InterCol title with a tense 13-run win over Fatima College in their quarter-final match at Munroe Road on Friday night.
In the other quarter-final yesterday, Carapichaima East Secondary defeated Princes Town West Secondary by 65 runs at Avidesh Samaroo Park in Endeavour.
At Munroe Road, Vishnu, who were crowned league champions earlier this month, won the toss and batted first, posting 118 for eight off their 20 overs. Fatima replied with 106 all out off 19.4 overs, with Vishnu spinner Kirstan Kallicharan taking two wickets in the final over.
In the other game, Justin Joseph hit 35 to lead “Caps” to 152 for five before taking a hat-trick—three for 20—with his left-arm orthodox spin to help dismiss Princes Town for 87 in 19.3 overs.
The other two SSSCL T20 quarter-finals will be played tomorrow, with Barrackpore West Secondary in action against Presentation College Chaguanas at Diamond Village Ground in South Trinidad and Hillview College taking on Naparima College at Avidesh Samaroo Park.
“Naps” knocked 2013 champions El Dorado East Secondary out of the competition in the previous round.
