Surujnarine, Permaul guide Albion to semi-final spot

Georgetown, Guyana - Albion Community Centre became the fourth team to reach the semi-finals of the Elizabeth Styles Under-19, 50-Over cricket competition after an easy victory over Big Star in the last quarter-final game.

By virtue of the win, the Albion lads have joined Young Warriors, Blairmont Community Centre and Rose Hall Town Pepsi in the semi-finals.

Playing at the Albion Community Centre ground, the home team won the toss, batted first and posted 161 all out from 29 overs.

Former Guyana Under-19 batsman Kandasammy Surujnarine led the way with 53 (6x4s), while Berbice Under-17 all-rounder Balchan Baldeo supported with 33. Bowling for Big Star, Mark Tyndall took 3-31.

When Big Star relied they ran up against an all spin attack and crumbled for 70 all out in 27.4 overs with David Connelly making 25. Bowling for Albion, former Berbice Under-19 off-spinner Veerapen Permaul took 5-18 from 9.4 overs, Berbice Under-15 off-spinner David Latchaya 3-11 from four overs and leg-spinner Avinash Wajib 2-19 from five overs.
