St. Catherine clip BDFSP by nine runs to reach quarter-finals of Sagicor General T20 championship

Bridgetown, Barbados, September 8 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Republic Bank St. Catherine became the sixth team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the BCA Sagicor General Twenty20 championship today after beating BDFSP by nine runs.

Playing in Zone A which comprises nine teams, St. Catherine's success in Series 8 at Paragon lifted them to 20 points - eight behind runaway leaders and title holders Sagicor Life UWI who drew a bye.

Only three other teams - YMPC, Guardian General Barbados Youth and BDFSP - are in line for the remaining two places.

YMPC kept their hopes alive with a 16-run win over Barbados Youth at Beckles Road to join their victims on 16 points, while BDFSP are on 14 points and must beat YMPC at Beckles Road in the last preliminary round on September 22 to reach the knockout stage.

Zone B was completed on August 25 with ICBL Empire, CGI Maple, LIME and Super Centre Spartan booking their places in the last eight.
