Sandals Kings win in Westmoreland T20

BOG, Westmoreland — Sandals Kings scored a big 78-run win over Bogg Eagles in Zone A as the Westmoreland Cricket Association inaugural Twnety20 cricket competition got underway with six games on Sunday.
The start of the competition followed Saturday night's launch at Sandals Whitehouse where the teams were presented with playing gear.
Twelve teams playing in two zones will contest what will see the top two teams from each zone advancing to the semi-finals set for April 20, and the final a week later.
On Sunday, Sandals Kings led by half-centuries from Nick Blackwood and Anthony Thompson made 193 for five then restricted Bogg to 115 for seven in a game reduced to 15 overs per side.
There were also wins for Paradise Sixers over Darliston Dynamites, Petersville Thunders over Bigwoods Gladiators, Chantilly Warriors over Star of the West Tallawahs, while Orange Hill Lions got points over Sheffield Titans, who failed to show for their game at Top Road.
At Petersville, Sandals batted first and piled up an impressive 193 for five as Blackwood stroked 67, and Thompson, 61, against Orville Blair's two for 27.
McKoy Ewart then took three wickets for 11 runs and Ricardo Reid, two for 17 for Sandals to restrict Bogg to 115 for seven off their 15 overs.
Andre Tennant was the only positive spark for the Bogg batting with 27 runs.
Petersville beat Bigwoods by 16 runs, making 149 for nine then bowling them out for 125 off 19.3 overs, thanks to a fine all-round performance from Cavin Spence
Andre Morgan led the Petersville batting with 42, while Cavin Spence made 25 against two wickets each for Oneil Scarlett and Garrett Campbell.
Spence then returned with the ball to take four wickets for 11 runs, and Roshane Samuels took two for 32, as Bigwoods fell short with only Fitzroy Quest making 34.
In the other Zone A game, Paradise cruised to a nine-wicket win over Darliston with four overs to spare as hey made 155 for one off 15.5 overs replying to 154 for six off 20 overs.
Darliston batted first and were paced by Rickel Walker, who made 62, not out, while Carson Ebanks was also undefeated on
30 as Vanriel Broomfield and Jomo Thompson each took a wicket.
Rohan James then hit a fine 79 not out for Paradise, and Broomfield made 54 not out to lead Paradise to their win.
Police Pacesetters beat Delveland Dragons by six runs, making 128 for one off 15 overs before holding Delveland to 122 for four off their allotment.
Ace Wallace made 64 not out for Police, while Devon Hughes supported with 33 as Clyde Cooper and Nicholas Vickers took one wicket each, with Fitzroy Burke's 37 being the top score for Delveland.
Chantilly Warriors beat Star of the West by 40 runs, making 156 all out off 19.4 overs then limiting the Tallawahs to 116 for eight, despite 40 not out from Paul Palmer Snr.
Howard Palmer made 33 and Adrian Fletcher was left not out on 26 in Chantilly's innings, as Kemar Dawkins bagged four wickets for 26 runs and Ricardo Clarke, two for 32.
