RHTGG takes Busta ‘Champion of Champions’ title
Guyana Times article.
Georgetown, Guyana - Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets (RHTGG) produced a fantastic all-round performance to decimate Albion Cricket Club by 25 runs in the final and lift the 10th Annual Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club/Busta ‘Champion of Champions’ tournament trophy on Sunday at the Port Mourant ground.
Deciding to bat first, RHTGG colts made 203-8 in 46 overs after the game was reduced due to pitch moisture. They then bundled out their archrivals for 178 in 43.1 overs.
Discarded national batsman Rajiv Ivan starred for the winners with 80 and a wicket to his credit.
It was a perfect performance by the Gadgets from the outset with openers Dominic Rikhi (25) and Delbert Hicks (24) added 46 for the first wicket.
However, their dismissal did little to unsettle the eventual winners, who then relied on a 60-run third- wicket partnership between Ivan and Jason Sinclair, who made 26.
Ivan played an innings of substance, rotating the strike regularly and in the process collecting six fours and two sixes.
For ACC, Jonathan Foo and West Indies Under-19 left-arm spinner Gudekash Motie were the most successful bowlers with 2-25 and 2-37 respectively.
At the start of the chase, ACC lost three quick wickets, but Jonathan Foo, however, batted resolutely and found an able ally in David Latchaya as the duo resurrected the innings somewhat.
The pair batted sensibly and shared a 69-run partnership for the fourth wicket, but finally, once the partnership was broken; Devendra Bishoo (22) was the only other batsman to offer further support.
Foo ended with 70, inclusive of five boundaries off 91 balls, while Latchaya made 31.
Off-spinner Troy Mathieson had a decent outing with the ball as he took three for 27 from his nine overs.
Managing Director of Guyana Beverage Company, the sole producer of Busta products, Robert Selman, and Marketing Manager Shameiza Yadram were part of the large crowd that witnessed the game.
