Reynolds’ 10-wicket haul derails MSC
GEORGETOWN, GUYANA - Not even the presence of national all-rounder Steven Jacobs could have prevented Police Sports Club (PSC) from derailing his side Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC), as they were forced to battle for a draw, following Jermaine Reynolds’ maiden 10-wicket haul last weekend.
Both sides were meeting in the lone fixture of the Georgetown Cricket Association-organised, Hadi’s Mall Incorporated-sponsored two-day first division contest at the MSC ground on Thomas Lands and having bowled out their opponents for 121 on the first day, MSC closed that day on 159 for 3.
However, Reynolds snared 7 for 52, as MSC were bowled out for 207, losing their last seven wickets for 48 runs, with Arvin Seepersaud who resumed the day on 44 going on to make an even half-century which was decorated with five fours.
Reynolds received support from Jason Heyliger who took 3 for 55 for PSC, who at the scheduled tea break had wiped off their 86-run deficit and were 149 for 6, before they were eventually bowled out for 200.
Shameer Fazal 53 (5x4), Royan Fredericks 27 (4x4) and Reginald Rodrigues 22 (3x4) were the leading batsmen for the lawmen, while Shaquille Williams snared 8 for 39 with his off-spinners for MSC, who were left a victory target of 115.
However, Reynolds had other ideas as he took 3 for 20 for match figures of 10 for 72, while Darson La Rose offered support with 3 for 21, as MSC saw seven of their batsmen including Jacobs, being arrested for a meagre 53 runs before play was called off.
