Barbados recall Browne for Super50

Bridgetown, Barbados, CMC – Former West Indies wicketkeeper Patrick Browne has been recalled for Barbados’ Super 50 campaign after over a protracted stint in the wilderness. The 29-year-old, who played five One-Day Internationals for West Indies in 2008, was named in a 14-man squad on Friday for the October 18 to 29 showpiece in Guyana.

Charles expects Windwards to win Super50

CASTRIES, St. Lucia, CMC – Xavier Gabriel was named the only uncapped regional One-day player in the Windward Islands’ 14-member squad for next month’s Regional Super50 in Guyana.

Chairman of the Windwards Selection Panel Julian Charles said they have decided to choose an experienced squad for this competition in the hope of going all the way and winning.

“We believe we have a strong enough squad to win the competition,” he told the CMC Sports Wire.

Williams, Edwards named Barbados captains

Bridgetown, Barbados, CMC – Ryan Hinds has been axed as Barbados captain for the upcoming WICB Regional Super50 competition and next year’s WICB Regional first-class championship.

In an unprecedented move, the Barbados Cricket Association have appointed separate captains for the two competitions, naming West Indies batsman Kirk Edwards for next year’s first-class championship, and all-rounder Kenroy Williams for the Super50 from October 18 to 29 in Guyana.

'Regional Super50' - WICB rebrands Limited Overs tourney

St John’s, Antigua – Regional Super50 – that is what the West Indies Cricket Board today announced that its rebranded Limited Overs tournament will now be known as. In addition to the new name the Regional Super50 will trial several new ‘super features’ which are geared towards making the games more exciting for the fans and more engaging for players. Principally among the innovations will be a new rule which will allow two bowlers on each side to bowl a maximum of 12 overs each during a 50 over game. The remaining bowlers can bowl a maximum of 10 overs each.

JCA names 4 man selection panel

Kingston, Jamaica - The Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) will utilise a four-man selection panel, chaired by former spinner Courtney Daley, to oversee the naming of the senior squad to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Regional 50-overs tournament to be staged in Guyana from October 17 to 31. The Observer understands that the panel will also consist of former West Indies left-handed batsman and current Jamaica Under-19 coach Robert Samuels and former national opener Delroy Morgan.
