Ramdeen guides Young Warriors to final, play Albion on September 22

Georgetown, Guyana - A fighting half-century from Kevin Ramdeen guided Young Warriors Universal DVD Cricket Club to the final of the inaugural Berbice River Bridge Company first division 50-over cricket competition last Sunday in Berbice.
Ramdeen stroked 66 off 50 balls, inclusive of four fours and four sixes, as his team edged Karibee Rice Port Mourant by one-wicket. The result means Young Warriors Universal DVD Cricket Club will face Albion Community Centre in the final scheduled for September 22 at the Cumberland ground.
Chasing 244 for victory, the eventual winners reached 249 for 9 in 48.4 overs. Ramdeen received support from Shimron Hetmyer, who made a quick-fire 42 off 24 balls, Lindon Austin (23), Khemraj Sumair (20) and Kassim Khan (15 not out).
Bowling for Karibee Rice Port Mourant, Devendra Thakurdeen, Manoj Looknauth and Yudendra Harrinarine all claimed two wickets apiece.
Earlier, Andrew Lyght Jr (78) featured in a 111-run third wicket partnership with Joshua Ramsammy (43) to validate the decision to bat first. Lyght Jr smashed four fours and a similar amount of sixes in his 52-ball innings. Lower order batsman Manoj Looknauth supported with 35 while Yudendra Harrinarine and Gregory Crandon made 17 runs apiece.
Bowling for Young Warriors, Kassim Khan took 3 for 38, left arm spinner Karamchand Ramnarine, 2 for 41, off-spinner Hubern Evans, 2 for 42, and Ramdeen, 2 for 50, to cap a satisfying outing both with the bat and ball.
