Rain ruins Price Is Right Supermarket second division final

Georgetown, Guyana - Consistent rain on Sunday along the upper Corentyne coast caused an abandonment of the Price is Right Supermarket second-division cricket final, which was scheduled for the Number 69 Vikings Ground.

Overnight rain had left the outfield damp, but when the covers were removed Sunday morning there was some  seepage onto the pitch which caused a delay.

However, just before the scheduled start, continuous rain forced the umpires to call off play at 12:30h.

Scores of persons who turned up dressed in the colours of the team they had intended supporting were hoping for the scheduled start, but had to wait three hours before receiving confirmation that the match would not be played.

The entire pitch was covered to ensure commencement of play had the rain stopped

Corriverton Cricket Club were expected to take on Number 70 MYO in the final.

Meanwhile, organizers from the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) are expected to meet with the sponsor today to arrange a new date for the match to be played.

Corriverton Cricket Club booked their place in the final when they defeated No.71 Cricket Club by 124; while Number 70 M.Y.O. had earlier earned the right to contest the final when they whipped Number 48 Challengers by 40 runs.

The teams are Corriverton C.C: Tarik Ibrahim (captain), Jermaine Reid (vice captain), Jeremy Moore, Anthony Seeraj, Rabindra Singh, Imran Jabar (wicket keeper), Clavern Beresford, Amzaan Appalsamy, Eric Phillips, Faoud Bacchus, Tulsiram Munesar, Rajeev Persaud and  Imron Mohamed.
