Progressors, Drifters in Tyro Windball final

Port of Spain, Trinidad - United Progressors “A” and Drifters booked spots in the men final of the BGTT/councillor Roger “Zoff” Celestine-sponsored Tyro Windball Cricket Competition.

At the semi-final stage, Progressors “A” earned a narrow six-run win over Head Gone on Tuesday while, on Wednesday, Drifters crushed Law Breakers by 58 runs. 

In Tuesday’s game, Progressors “A” posted a useful score of 115 runs for four wickets with Rishi Paheman hitting 48 while Ryan Ramasray was unbeaten on 35. 

Head Gone were only able to reach 109/8 in response, with Paheman completing a fine all-round match with figures of 3/13 while Jovan Whint claimed 2/8. Keron Raymond struck 26 and Ariz Khan 23 in a losing cause. 

Wednesday’s match was the complete opposite to the previous “semi”. 

Drifters tallied 110/9 with knocks of 33 from Dexter Samuel and 29 from Christopher Caldron. Narine Samaroo collected 3/15 for Law Breakers. 

The Law Breakers batsmen offered little resistance with the bat, as they were skittled out for 52, despite 30 from Sheldon Balroop. Stephen Lopez got 2/6 and Dale Jagassar 2/10 for Drifters. 

The finals of the men, women and 45-and-over categories were due to take place at the St George’s College Ground, Barataria on Saturday last.
