Preparation almost complete for fourth BCCDA Inter Agency cricket in Berbice

Georgetown, Guyana - Preparations are moving ahead for the eagerly anticipated fourth annual Berbice Chamber of Commerce and Development Association Inter Agency Corporate Business in Sports (CBIS) 10/10 cricket competition, Exhibition and fun day, which is slated to be held on Saturday November 9th at the Albion Community Centre, beginning at 09:00 hrs.

The organisers have release the rules of the competition which will be known as the Berbice Chamber CBIS 2013 Cup.

Each Team is permitted two guest players (no national player). Employees spouse and children can register as staff of the Company if there are not enough employees to make up the team.

The games will be played as a 10/10 encounter with 16 participating teams (8 overs in the preliminary round and 10 overs from the semifinal stages).  Wides and No Balls will be counted as runs. Front Foot “No Ball” will be counted as runs and will earn a “FREE HIT”.  Runs earned as a result of overthrows will be counted as legal runs.

Each bowler will be allowed two overs during the preliminary stage and three overs during the semifinals and final. During the preliminary stage of the competition, bowling will be permitted from one side only so as to conserve on time. For the semifinal and final, batting and bowling will be done from both sides.

In the event of a tie a ‘super over’ will be bowled. An over should not exceed three minutes. Therefore a game should not exceed 60 minutes. The competition is set to begin at 09:30hrs and teams are asked to assemble at 08:45 hrs with the list of players of their respective squads. This list should also be emailed or handed to the organisers by today, November 04, 2013.

Third place winner will be the team that loses the semifinals with the higher score. One team will draw the bye into the semifinals or the team that lost the qualifiers with the highest score.

Attractive prizes will be at stake for the top teams and outstanding individual players, which will include cash and trophies.  The winning team will walk away with the BCCDA trophy, $50,000 and medals. The Runner-up will take home – Trophy, $30,000 and medals, while third place will collect a trophy and $20,000.

The Man of the Match in the finals gets $10,000 and a medal. The bowler with the most wickets also gets $10,000 and a medal as well as the batsman with the highest score in the tournament.

The fixtures, which will see two matches being played simultaneously, are as follows – Regional Chairman’s eleven verses the Guyana Hindu Dharma Sabah, Karibee Rice taking on Hand in Hand Insurance, Demerara Bank playing Banks DIH Ltd, Oldendorff Carriers matching skills with Guyana Power and Light, Metro Office and Computer Supplies meeting Neal and Massy, Berbice Bridge colliding with New Building Society.

The final two matches will bring together Republic Bank Ltd against Ansa McAl Stag Boyz and Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports taking on Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company for a place in the quarterfinals.

The final, which will be a 10 over affair, will be played under lights. A feature 20/20 cricket match involving Berbice Titans against either Trophy Stalls or Regal eleven, will precede the final.

The day’s proceedings will be spiced up with performances by a One Man Band and Cheer Leaders.  The presentation ceremony will follow immediately after the final. Teams are also encouraged to walk with Dominoes, for the domino tournament that will be held simultaneously.
