Pollard: It was a total disappointment

PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD - West Indies stand in captain Kieron Pollard said the team’s 39- run defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka in their Celkon Tri-Nations match at the Queen’s Park Oval yesterday was a let down, after they had won their first two matches.

This was their second defeat after going down to India on Friday at the same venue. The all-rounder said having a strong hold on the opposition, it was heart breaking to suffer such a defeat.

“Having Sri Lanka 64 for three after 19 overs on Sunday and seeing them come back to score 219 was depressing. The fact that we were not able to chase down the runs was a total disappointment overall,” said the all-rounder.

Pollard said he will not point any fingers since they did not play well as a team. “We lost by 39 runs and we gave away 31 extras. If we count how many wides there were and how many extra overs Sri Lanka batted we could see. Nevertheless we are not going to sit down and say one or two persons were responsible for the defeat. We play as a team, win as a team and lose as a team.
