Phoenix begin title chase

Trinidad & Tobago Newsday article.

PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD - Phoenix Women will begin their campaign in the Trinidad and Tobago Women’s Cricket Association (TTWCA) 30-overs Knock-out against Championship team Achievers at the Couva East Secondary School today.

Phoenix which placed second to Moosai for the second year in the league will no doubt be hoping to capture the silverware. They threw away their first round match against the champions, needing to get just three runs from the final over but were only able to score two and in the end lost the match by virtue of losing more wickets, as the score was tied.

Phoenix hopes will rest on the likes of skipper Britney Cooper and other equally talented players who have shown good form during the league.

Meanwhile Technocrats who placed third in the league will also be hoping to vie for the title.

The Stacy Ann King side will open their campaign against another championship team UWI at the university ground.

Today’s TTWCA fixtures
