Overseas-based Guyanese donates gear to Media XI

Georgetown, Guyana - Impressed by the Media XI’s 27-run win over Enmore Over-40 team in a feature 20/20 match last Sunday, an overseas-based Guyanese has willingly provided a quantity of gear to the Media men as they travel around the country competing against different clubs and organisations.

Ravi Etwaroo, the proprietor of Cricket Zone USA, said he’s very pleased to support the Media boys, whose victory against Enmore was preceeded by a no-result in a rain-affected game against the Georgetown Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association at the GCC ground, Bourda, on Independence Day.

A product of the Enmore village, East Coast Demerara, Etwaroo, an active softball player, presented an AS bat, a pair of wicketkeeping and batting gloves and a pair of batting pads to the Media players.

Receiving on behalf of the Media XI was middle-order batsman Avenash Ramzan, who expressed gratitude to Etwaroo and his business establishment, which is based in New York, for the kind gesture.

Ramzan said the Media XI is forever grateful to such persons as Etwaroo and the other persons/businesses who have so far offered support, noting that the equipment would be used for their intended purposes.

Weather permitting, the Media boys will be back in action on June 22 against an East Berbice team, while CARICOM Day has been tentatively set as the date for the match against the Georgetown Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association.
