Omar Phillips leads St. Peter to five-wicket win

Bridgetown, Barbados - A half-century from opener Omar Phillips led St. Peter Voyagers to a five-wicket win over St. Thomas Warriors in the fourth match of the UWI C.O. Williams Inter-Parish Twenty20 Competition on Wednesday night.

Playing at the 3W’s Oval at Cave Hill, Phillips struck 64 runs and featured in a third-wicket partnership of 77 off 65 balls with Renaldo Parris as St. Peter made 152-5 in reply to St. Thomas’ 150-5.

The pair came together with St. Peter on 35-2, after the dismissals in quick succession of Winston Worrell, who made six and John Campbell, who was sent back to the pavilion for a duck.

Left-hander Phillips faced 55 balls and struck four fours and four sixes, while Parris made 40 off 37 balls with two sixes. Phillips’ fifty came off 44 balls and included four fours and three sixes.  

Fast bowler Dawayne Sealy took 2-22 off two overs.

St. Thomas scored 150 for five after winning the toss with Akeem Springer hitting the top score of 46 off 42 deliveries. His knock included four boundaries and one six before he was trapped leg before wicket by Corey Collymore.

Diego Stuart contributed 29 not out off 20 balls with two sixes and left-hander Marlon Welcome-Goodman made 21 off 19 balls containing two fours and one six.

St. Thomas off-spinner Shane Ramsay picked up two for 27 off four overs.
