North Stars to contest Sagicor General Shield quarter-final after Maxwell protest rejected

Barbados Cricket Association article.

Bridgetown, Barbados - The Complaints & Disputes Committee of the Barbados Cricket Association which met to hear the protest brought by Maxwell Sports Club in the Sagicor General Shield competition unanimously rejected the complaint.

On Thursday, July 11, 2013, the BCA received a protest from North Stars Cultural & Social Club indicating that Maxwell had fielded a player who had not been transferred from the Club with which he played in 2012.

Investigations revealed that up to that date no transfer was received by the BCA for that player and in accordance with Regulation #15 of the BCA Special Conditions and Regulation of Play, Maxwell therefore would forfeit the games in which this player competed.

Based on the above, North Stars would top Zone G with 20 points.

However, Maxwell protested the decision of the BCA.

Now, the remaining knockout round games will be played as follows:

Quarter-final: September 1

Zone G Winner Mount Gay North Stars v Zone B Winner Psychiatric Hospital @ Pine Basin

Semi-final: September 8

Old Brigand Dover v the Winner of the above quarter-final at Friendship

Final: September 15

Barbados Fire Service v the winner of the above semi-final at Kensington Oval

Play in all games begins at 11 am.
