North, South clash in Under-17 final

Port of Spain, Trinidad - North and South will meet in the final of the BG T&T Under-17 InterZone tournament after registering contrasting wins in the semi-finals of the tournament yesterday.
South defeated East by two wickets in one semi at the National Cricket Centre in Balmain, Couva, while North had a slightly easier time overcoming Central by five wickets in the other knockout game at Presentation College Chaguanas.
At NCC, East were dismissed for 133 with Imran Hosein grabbing three for 29. He was aided by Cafu Chin Shue, Renny Jangeesingh and Aeron Mohammed who chipped in with two wickets each.
In reply, South, led by Adrian Paharry’s 58, reached 136 for eight to seal the win and put the South Zone in their second BG T&T InterZone final for the 2014 season.
South were also in the final of the Under-19 competition, overcoming East to win that trophy.
In the other Under-17 semi-final, Craig Iqwe led a strong North bowling attack, grabbing four for 41 as Central were dismissed for 102 in 37.1 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Anand Lochan also chipped in with three for 12 to help the North Zone cause. In reply, Brandon Maraj hit 26 to guide North to 104 for five off 30.2 overs.
