NBS 2nd Div. 40 Overs tourney…Gravesande hits 109*; Rainbow Generation and Shieldstown into playoffs

Georgetown, Guyana - A well crafted unbeaten century from former Guyana Under-15 batsman Keino Gravesande guided Rainbow Generation of Seafield, West Coast, Berbice to victory over Bush Lot Challengers in their final Zone A (Upper West Coast Berbice) match to give them a clean sweep of that zone and a place in the last 16 of the New Building Society (NBS) Second Division 40-Over competition in Berbice.

Gravesande put on 60 for the second wicket with Dunstan Cummings (28) and then 110 for the third with Wayne Fraser (49), he ended on 109* (6×4 7×6) to see his team to 229 for 5 in 30 overs. Bush Lot could only reply with 154 for 9 in their 30 overs; Jack Jacobs picking up 4 for 24 for Rainbow.

Heeralall Bridgelall took 5 for 11 to help Shieldstown defeat D’Edward to come out winners of Zone C (West Bank Berbice), they also move to the playoffs. After Blairmont Community Centre B was restricted to 104 by No. 5, their medium pacer Omesh Mangal took 6 for 7 from 5 overs to see No. 5 bowled out for 71.

Half centuries were scored by Berbice youth players Sharaz Ramcharran and David Latchaya both of Albion Community Centre, Yourdhan Guradayal of Chesney and Yuvindra Chinapen of Fyrish.

At Seafield – Rainbow Generation thumped Bush Lot challengers by 75 runs. Rainbow Generation 229 for 5 in 30 overs; Keino Gravesande 109*; Wayne Fraser 49, Dunstan Cummings 28, Troy Haley 2 for 14 and Rajbance Hemraj 2 for 37.

Bush Lot Challengers 154 for 9 in 30 overs; Asif Khan 45, Troy Haley 32, Jack Jacobs 4 for 24, Sherwin McPherson 2 for 20.

At Shieldstown – Shieldstown beat D’Edward by 3 wickets. D’Edward 116 in 29 overs; Kevon Jawahir 28, Heeralall Bridgelall 5 for 11, Mohamed Baksh 2 for 14. Shieldstown 117 for 7 in 29.1 overs; Aftar Gani 37, Kayamat Ally 26, Andrew Joynauth 26, Derick Narine Lalsa 2 for 9, Navin Rampersaud 2 for 16.

At No. 5 – Blairmont Community Centre B got past No. 5 by 32 runs. Blairmont Community Centre B 104 in 25 overs; Omesh Mangal 31, Errol Johnson 2 for 18, Arthley Bailey 2 for 21.

No. 5 made 71 in 21 overs; Omesh Mangal 5 for 7, Seon Glasgow Jr. 3 for 13.

At Kendall’s Union – Albion Community Centre A defeated Kendall’s Union A by 74 runs. Albion Community Centre A 168 for 8 in 30 overs; Sharaz Ramcharran 59, David Latchaya 52, Steven Ramlochan 3 for 35, Chris Yadram 2 for 48.

Kendall’s Union A made 94 in 18.2 overs; Navendra Mangra 35, Balchan Baldeo 4 for 15, Tribhuwan Jagdeo 3 for 18.

At Chesney – Chesney took care of Rose Hall Town Guns & Cannons by 6 wickets. Rose Hall Town Guns & Cannons 125 in 24 overs; Monesh Singh 33, Arjun Narmesammy 29 n.o, Narine Deonarine 3 for 18, Ravindra Somwaru 2 for 14, Riaz Ramcharran 2 for 18, Imran Khan 2 for 35.
