MSC take first innings against GYO, Everest thump St. Stanislaus

Georgetown, Guyana - Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) claimed first innings points from Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO), while Everest defeated St. Stanislaus when the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Noble House Sea Foods second division 2-day tournament continued last weekend.

At GYO, the host batted first and posted 240 all out. Treatlon Liverpool scored 50 not out, Brain Sookram made 42, Bhaskar Yadram 29 and Abdul Raheem 26. Mark Cumberbatch, Steven Sankar and Hackem David snared two wickets each.

MSC replied with 317-7 declared.  Barker stroked 139, Corwin Austin supported with 47, Steven Sankar 43, while Jamal Norton and Kefa Naughton scored 28 each. Bowling for GYO, Shiv Parmanand picked up three wickets.

GYO reached 131-7 in 38 overs at stumps, batting a second time on the final day. Raheem and Yadram top scored with 62 not out and 29 respectively; Samuel Tixey, Sankar and David took two wickets each.

At the Muslim Youth Organisation, Everest defeated Saints Stanislaus College by 236 runs led by left arm spinner, Javed Rasheed, who had a match haul of 12-67.

Everest won the toss and elected to bat scoring 249-5 in 28 overs with Rishi Hiralall and Mohan Ramdeen being the main batsmen with 68 and 52 respectively. St. Stanislaus replied with 103 all out. Rasheed grabbed 6-36 and Raphael Singh 2-14.

Everest reached 179-6 in their second innings before they declared. Singh scored 67 and Khemraj Ramdeen 53.

In their second turn at the crease, St. Stanislaus were bowled out for 89. Rasheed bagged 6-31 and 4-9.
