PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD - Moosai Ladies retained their Trinidad and Tobago Women’s Cricket Association (TTWCA) 30-overs Knock-out title with a four-run win in a Super Over final against Hibiscus at the University of the West Indies (UWI) ground on Sunday.

After the match was affected by heavy rain, the umpires gave the teams a choice of either a super over or a coin toss and it was agreed that they should play the super over.

The defending champions who were the heavy favourites to take this match since they were unbeaten this season as well as because they were playing a championship team and not a premier team.

Moosai won the toss and took first strike scoring eight runs for the loss of Kirbyina Alexander for four.

Captain Leeann Kirby was not out on three. In their turn at the crease Hibiscus could only manage four runs while losing two wickets in the process to former West Indies and TT all-rounder Amanda Samaroo.

This made it the El Dorado-based team’s second crown for the year after they retained their league title.

They now have their sights set on the T20 title with the tournament expected to bowl off this weekend. This was the only title that evaded their grasps last year as they lost to Phoenix in the final.
