Moosai, Hibiscus in women Knock-out

PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD - The defending champions defeated arch rivals Phoenix by 33 runs in their semi-final at their home ground, El Dorado West Secondary School while championship team Hibiscus got the better of premier division team Technocrats.

Moosai who retained their league title made 144 for three taking first strike. National all-rounder Kirbyina Alexander led the way with 65 while Captain Leeann Kirby made 33 and opener Amanda Samaroo 15.

Alexander and Samaroo put on 54 for the first wicket before she added 73 with her skipper for the second wicket. Shanelle Lord, captain Britney Cooper and Samantha Bissoon each took a wicket for the visitors. 

In reply Phoenix could only manage 111 for five when their overs ran out. Cooper led the way with 27 while Bissoon and Lord made 17 and 14 runs respectively.

Samaroo returned with the ball to take two for 15 while spinner Kamara Ragoobar had two for 23. This was Moosai’s third win over Phoenix for the season after defeating them twice in the league.
